Hi, I seem to be getting more colds than usual this year. This is the second time this year. Sore throat and sneesing. I feel like a child again getting them twice a year or more. Any reason why this is happening? I used to be so healthy. I know a lot of people have colds at the moment but it isn't like me. It keeps going in to my chest to. Is it true that bigger people always have problems with there chest?

In general, the more over a healthy weight you are, the more susceptible you will be to disease. Your body is already working harder to maintain normal functions, so fighting germs means your defenses are stretched thin.

That's why the canned response "healthy diet full of fruits and veg + daily exercise" fits for almost everything. Your immunity benefits from the vitamins and nutrition, and your body has less trouble functioning when it's got a little less "extra" to fight for.

Are you overly-stressed for any reason this year? That will weaken your immune system. Also, if you smoke, your colds will eventually become worse. Mine did, at least. Here's hoping you don't get sick again this year!

Definitely a good PT regimen is your friend.

If you go into bronchitis every time you get a cold, I would see an ear nose and throat doctor. I get antibiotics because I do go into bronchitis but I get only 2 colds/bronchitis a year. This year though I started on vitamins, and have been okay. Stress is rough on your system very definitely.

yeah, colds suck.
Last year, I had 2 colds too. colds are miserable.
No, not only bigger people have problems with the chest. everyone does at some point. Sometimes i get these coughing fits that are just horrible and it's uncontrollable but that's if the cold is very bad.

Agree with post six. and yes, I believe stress plays a part in how often people get sick. The ear nose and throat doctor can determine what's going on. I had constant breathing problems out of my nose, was coughing all the time even when I didn't have a cold, etc. It turned out I had chronic sinusitis and I needed surgery to correct the problem. I'm not a large person either, and I was seeing a pulminologist for a bit, but he couldn't find anything wrong with me in terms of breathing or lung issues. Here's hoping you get to the bottom of what's happening. Hugs.
